A Simple Act of Kindness

So, here I am 2:00 am and still not able to sleep.
Yesterday, or would that be 2 days ago, a slight young woman with hot pink streaks in her highlighted hair knocked on our door and asked to use the restroom. A simple request normally requires a very simple answer. Yet, I had to think about this and weigh the pros and cons of the safety of this rather mundane request.

Was she telling me the truth when she stated that she had been out all day without the opportunity to go to the bathroom? Was she part of a theft identity gang casing out homes in our neighboorhood? And more importantly, 20 years ago, would I have even had to think twice about the plight of this young girl?

It is a sad state of affairs, when one must see credientials before letting a wayward wisp of a gal use the toilet. Where has common decency gone? Is mankind so devilish that one must submit to a urine analysis just to pee?!?!?

Yet here I am, 2:15 in the morning, unable to sleep because I am worried that someone will breakin, steal my computer or worse harm my daughter. I long for the day when this thought does not even have to cross my mind!
